Hydraulic Compression

Compression fittings work by the compression of an 'olive' between two tapered surfaces and the pipe itself. ...

This exerts pressure on the olive and bites it onto the pipe. Compression fittings work well if the pipe is clean and cut properly.

Compression fittings are the perfect choice for high pressure applications. In combination with a high pressure tubing material like steel, large compression fittings can often be used at pressures in excess of 10,000 psi.
